I believe in the body as a fluid element,
able to adapt and change where needed, to provide the right communication the body needs in order to stay in optimum health
Who I am
Hi, nice to meet you - My name is Zoe Merkazy
I am an Osteopath specialising in Women’s, Obstetric and Paediatric health and am registered with the IRO (Israeli Osteopathic Association)
I have been in the world of therapies for just under 20 years now, and
experienced Osteopathy personally from a young age. I work primarily
with women, and children but also am particularly interested and treating ENT issues, Respiratory issues, Developmental issues (e.g. hearing or speech), and also being neuro diversitie’s support. I hold a Bachelor’s degree with Honours in Osteopathy, from the UK, as well as a myriad of post-graduate diplomas in my areas of interest and specialty, and in April 2021, I commenced my master’s in
women’s health in Osteopathy, at the world-renowned Molinari Institute
I also teach certain technqiues in Osteopathy in private workshops as well as at Wingate School of Osteopathy, and mentor 5th year students on the start of their journey in Osteopathy…
My Journey
For me osteopathy isn't just another treatment skill, it has also guided my journey along a path I didn't expect it to take me - A journey to understand myself in ordeŕ to understand, and respect, the situations my patients would be in. and recognize my strengths and weaknesses in order to keep excelling as a primary health care practitioner Osteopathy has challenged me, and opened me up to the understanding of the endless possibilities of what our bodies are able to do and what we can help to keep it at its optimum health.
I am proud to say I am a body geek. I have a keen interest in trauma – physical and mental health – and strongly believe (through my clinical experience) that a lot of what presents in our body, is due to unwanted stresses and strains in our life. Part of my job, and also reinforced by the principles of osteopathy, is to address the whole person not just the part (the body). And with this in mind I incorporate this frame of mind into all my treatment protocols for whomever I treat (no matter the condition or support needed) to be present, empathic and supportive for every patient.
My Philosophy
All development of the body is important, with all its uniqueness, idiosyncrasies and challenges – and the overlap of development of mother and child, and any trauma that influences that development or continuation of growth, is able to be overcome - supported by the gentle, quiet but powerful work that osteopathy does. I believe in the body as a fluid element, able to adapt and change where needed, to provide the right communication the body needs in order to stay in optimum health - but that with that change sometimes there is dysfunction that needs to be addressed.
How I work
I use a variety of techniques (Structural, Visceral & Cranial) but also have a keen passion for a set of techniques called BLT (no not the sandwich!) which allows the body to be reminded of where it can and should function rather than where it has decided its function lies after experiencing trauma. These techniques feel very gentle but have a deep-set effect on the tissues of the body allowing for optimum change to occur. As I say to all my patients, your body has all the capabilities it needs to be to keep you in good health; with the skills of osteopathy I am just turning the key in the lock ¾ of the way to allow that return of body to function - then you and your your body do the rest.
